Law Student Registrant Instructions

Second year law students only

**Every law student in his/her 2nd year of law school enrolled in an approved ABA Law School in this state shall complete a Law Student Registration Form with the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Bar Admissions (LASCBA) and shall request that the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) prepare a Character Report.**

  1. Create an account on this website
  2. Submit on-line Law Student Registration form.
  3. Download and print the Law Student Registration form and Authorization and Release form.
  4. Sign and notarize, where applicable, these forms.
  5. Mail forms and $25 fee to the LASCBA between August 1st and October 1st of the fall semester of the second academic year of law school. Registration is not complete until the signed Registration form, signed and notarized Authorization and Release form and payment is received by the Committee.
  6. Applicants shall submit a Request for Preparation of a Character Report (Application for Character Report) to the NCBE in accordance with the instructions provided and fees prescribed by the NCBE.  A hard copy of the Request for Preparation of a Character Report must be received at NCBE between August 1st and October 1st of the fall semester of the second academic year of law school.
  7. A hard copy of the Law Student Registration Form and the Request for the Preparation of a Character Report must be received (not postmarked) by the deadline date.

NOTE:  If you are a law student enrolled in one of the ABA accredited law schools in this state and you do not participate in the Law Student Registration Program you will be assessed a $200 Late Law Student Application Fee by the LASCBA at the time you file a Bar Examination Application.
